Our Services

Wellness Services

Exams and Consultations

Our staff will get a chance to talk to you and see if you are having any trouble with your pet. We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible. Then, one of our veterinarians will do a complete physical examination of your pet. It is always good to have a baseline in case your pet ever becomes ill. We also want to monitor your pet’s weight, ensuring that your pet stays a healthy weight. It is much easier to start a diet when a pet is a pound overweight instead of fifteen! Our veterinarian will also look for any potential problems. Our goal is to catch any problems before they become major ones. The sooner that we can catch a problem, the easier it is to treat it, and the more likely that your pet will make a full recovery!

Wellness Services

Wellness and Prevention

At Leominster Animal Hospital, we believe that regular checkups and wellness exams are critical to your pet’s well-being. We encourage annual physical examinations, including vaccinations, blood work, fecal testing, dental evaluations, and nutritional counseling. Regular checkups allow us to establish a baseline in your pet’s health and make us aware of any changes that may indicate future problems. We highly recommend bringing your pet in for regular exams. Oftentimes, health problems that go undetected can become more serious issues when left untreated, so checkups are important even when your pet appears healthy. As your pet matures from a kitten/puppy to an adult and then onto a senior, we offer comprehensive wellness strategies that will enable you to plan for each life stage of your furry friend, as well as the unique health needs associated with these stages.

Radiology

Our hospital is proud to offer state-of-the-art digital radiography services, which allow us to create images of the body’s organs and skeletal structure to aid in accurate diagnoses. In addition to the in-house expertise, we have the ability to electronically submit radiographs to Board Certified Radiologists for their interpretation.

The images produced by digital radiography are much better quality than film radiographs. They can be manipulated digitally, giving us the best possible radiographic information to help us diagnose your pets. The use of radiographs is safe, and our entire staff is highly trained. Our goal is to provide your pet with the highest level of medical care, and this is just one of the many ways we can accomplish that objective.

All clients receive a C/DR disc of their pet’s X-Ray. If you have any questions or concerns about your pet’s X-rays, please contact us at 978-534-0936.

Dental Services

Dentistry

Dental care is vital to the overall health of any pet. Dental disease, specifically periodontal disease, is one of the most common ailments affecting our canine and feline patients. The infection can easily spread from the gums throughout the body via the bloodstream and can lead to health issues with the heart, liver, and kidneys. In fact, over 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over the age of three suffer from some sort of dental disease.

The most effective way to protect your pet from dental disease is through professional cleanings. We offer comprehensive dental services, including ultrasonic cleaning, polishing, and dental extractions. We also offer a variety of at-home dental care products that can help keep your pet’s teeth clean after their professional treatment.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a state-of-the-art alternative therapy used in human medicine by professional sports teams, physical therapists, and orthopedic practices, to name a few. It can also be used for chronic pain by helping to increase blood flow to affected areas.

Leominster Animal Hospital is proud to offer Class IV Companion Laser therapy for our patients. The Class IV Companion Laser is used to treat acute conditions such as wounds, infections, tooth extraction sites, lacerations, incision lines, and chronic conditions such as degenerative joint disease, feline acne, arthritis lick granulomas, and otitis.

Nutritional Counseling

Nutrition is an important part of pets’ lives. As they age, nutritional needs change. That is why there are so many different food formulas, including puppy/kitten, adult, and senior. There are also diets for pets with certain diseases and conditions. We recommend discussing nutrition with our staff at every visit.

The treatment plans for many medical conditions recommend the feeding of specialized veterinary prescription diets to your pet. Our doctors will discuss with you what diet is recommended for your pet based on his/her individual needs. We offer a variety of veterinary prescription diets to help maintain your pet’s health.

Obesity is a common problem among pets and can cause real health problems as they get older. With proper diet and exercise, all pets should be able to meet their dietary needs and be within a healthy weight range.
